Equatorial SA is a holding company, which invests in the capital stock of other companies, consortiums, and undertakings that operate in the electricity sector or in similar activities. The company is headquartered in Sao Luis, Maranhao. The company went IPO on 2006-04-03. The company is a provider of generation, commercialization, transmission and distribution services, as well as sanitation and telecommunications services. Equatorial’s operations are divided into five economic segments: Distribution, Transmission (that includes eight transmission lines), Services (referring to the service activities provided by Equatorial Servicos SA and its subsidiaries), Others, and Generation and Marketing. The Company’s main operations are conducted through subsidiaries located in the Northeast, North, Central-West, Southeast and South regions of Brazil.
