The plan covers new M6-powered entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac models, a redesigned MacBook Air line, and high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros featuring OLED touchscreens for the first time.
"The Mac has never been more relevant to professional workflows, especially as AI moves from the cloud to the device," said an Apple spokesperson, who declined to provide specific performance targets for the M6 chip ahead of its launch. The company's in-house silicon strategy has been a key competitive advantage, allowing Apple to control both hardware and software optimization for machine learning tasks.
The M6 chip, built on an advanced process node, will power the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and a new iMac, while the high-end MacBook Pro models will pair the M6 Pro and M6 Max variants with OLED displays — a first for Apple's laptop line. The company also plans to update the MacBook Air with a redesign and release new Mac mini and Mac Studio models featuring upgraded processors.
