The XRP Ledger received a strong endorsement for its security architecture, with a new audit from a top network contributor concluding it is highly resistant to quantum computing attacks as of April 2026. The report comes as Google's Quantum AI division renews concerns over the vulnerability of major digital assets.
"The architecture of XRP Ledger makes it, right now, one of the most secure blockchain ecosystems," 'Vet', an XRPL validator who published the detailed audit, said in a statement on April 8.
The positive assessment for XRP stands in contrast to recent warnings for the largest cryptocurrency. A Google-led study found that a sufficiently powerful quantum computer could derive a Bitcoin private key from a public key during a live transaction, estimating a 41% chance of success in an attack taking less than 10 minutes. That research suggested roughly 6.9 million Bitcoin, including 1.7 million from the Satoshi era, may already be exposed.
This divergence in security outlooks could position XRP as a safer long-term asset in the eyes of investors, potentially increasing confidence as the industry grapples with a transition to post-quantum cryptography. The Ethereum network is considered less susceptible to this specific real-time attack vector due to faster transaction finalization times, a characteristic it shares with the XRPL.
The audit from 'Vet' was published following two weeks of community discussion around the progress of Google's quantum computing capabilities. His conclusion provides a bullish case for the native security of the XRP Ledger when compared to proof-of-work blockchains like Bitcoin, whose transaction process exposes the public key for a brief but potentially vulnerable window.
Google's researchers described their hardware assumptions as "conservative" and have urged the entire crypto sector to implement a defensive roadmap by 2029. Justin Drake of the Ethereum Foundation called the day the new estimates were published "a momentous day for quantum computing and cryptography," highlighting the seriousness of the threat. For XRP, however, the recent audit suggests it may already have a significant head start in the quantum resistance race.
