Umbra, a Solana privacy layer, partnered with Streamflow to launch confidential token vesting on Solana, targeting a $97 billion token unlock market. The product, announced May 26, lets projects distribute tokens to investors and team members without publicly revealing vesting schedules or wallet addresses.
"Confidential vesting solves a core tension in crypto: projects need to lock tokens for alignment, but public unlock schedules create predictable trading patterns that can be exploited," Umbra said in the announcement. The privacy layer uses zero-knowledge proofs to keep vesting terms private while maintaining on-chain verifiability.
The $97 billion figure represents the total value of tokens currently subject to vesting schedules across the crypto market, according to data from token unlock trackers. Streamflow, a Solana-based token distribution platform, processes over $1 billion in token unlocks monthly. The integration allows projects using Streamflow to opt into Umbra's confidential vesting feature, hiding both the amount and timing of unlocks from public view.
The launch addresses a growing concern in crypto markets: public token unlock schedules often lead to front-running and price suppression as traders anticipate sell pressure. By keeping vesting terms confidential, projects may reduce pre-unlock volatility and attract investors who prefer not to broadcast their positions. The feature is available immediately on Solana through Streamflow's platform.
