Subsea7 announced it has won a contract from a Chevron subsidiary for the Aseng Gas Monetisation Project offshore Equatorial Guinea, an award the company defines as "large," placing its value between $150 million and $300 million.
The contract was awarded by Noble Energy EG Ltd., a Chevron company, according to an official statement from Subsea7. The work will support the development of gas resources from the Aseng field, a key part of Chevron’s strategy to advance its energy assets in the country.
The project scope covers the engineering, procurement, transportation, and installation of subsea equipment. This includes umbilicals, risers, and flowlines that will connect the Aseng field to existing processing facilities. The approach is designed to fast-track development and efficiently use established midstream infrastructure in the region.
This award represents a critical step in advancing a project intended to sustain liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from Equatorial Guinea into the mid-2030s. For Subsea7, the contract provides a significant boost to its order backlog and reinforces its market leadership in the West African subsea sector, deepening its long-standing collaboration with Chevron.
Sustaining Regional Gas Exports
The contract follows Chevron's final investment decision (FID) on the Aseng Gas Monetisation Project, announced on April 1, 2026. Chevron's development plan focuses on monetizing gas from its operated assets to support and extend the life of the country's LNG facilities.
By using existing infrastructure, the project aims to accelerate production timelines and improve capital efficiency. Chevron has indicated the development will also support further investment across its regional portfolio, including the Alen field and the cross-border Yoyo-Yolanda field, reinforcing Equatorial Guinea's role as a key player in global gas markets. Subsea7's involvement is crucial for executing the offshore components of this strategy.
