RoboSense’s pivot to a dual-engine growth model is paying off, with first-quarter LiDAR sales showing explosive growth in its robotics division that pushed the segment’s volume past its automotive business for the first time. The company’s total LiDAR shipments surged 204.1% year-over-year to 330,300 units.
"Our strategic direction is clear: RoboSense is a robotics company," Mark Qiu, CEO and Executive Director of RoboSense, said following the company’s first-ever profitable quarter in Q4 2025. "We will continue to expand the boundaries of Physical AI, further consolidate our core competitive advantage through proprietary chipsets, which lay the foundation for our generational-lead product offerings."
The details show a significant strategic shift, with the robotics and other segments growing an astonishing 1,458.8% from the prior year to 185,500 units sold. The more established Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) segment sold 144,800 units. This performance builds on a strong 2025, where the company shipped over 303,000 units to the robotics sector, securing the number one global market share.
The results validate RoboSense's dual-engine strategy, leveraging its in-house chip technology to serve both the automotive and burgeoning robotics markets. By developing its own chipsets for transmission, reception, and processing, RoboSense has created a comprehensive portfolio of digital LiDAR products. This vertical integration is a key differentiator, enabling the company to serve over 3,400 clients in robotics and secure design wins with 35 automotive companies, including BYD and Geely.
Dual-Engine Strategy Gains Traction
The first-quarter results are the clearest sign yet that the company's focus on diversifying its revenue streams is succeeding. While the ADAS market remains a core part of its business, the exponential growth in robotics—spanning autonomous delivery, commercial cleaning, and humanoid robots—provides a significant second growth engine. The company’s solutions have been adopted by over 90% of leading unmanned delivery vehicle companies in China, including JD.com and Meituan.
This momentum follows a landmark fourth quarter in 2025, where RoboSense achieved its first-ever quarterly net profit of approximately RMB 104 million. The robotics business was a critical driver of that milestone, and its continued acceleration suggests a sustainable path to profitability. To meet surging demand, the company plans to expand its production capacity to four million units in 2026.
Proprietary Chips Form Competitive Moat
At the heart of RoboSense's success is its full-stack development of automotive-grade digital LiDAR chipsets. This allows the company to control its product roadmap and cost structure, offering a range of LiDAR solutions from low-beam to high-beam specifications. This capability has made it the preferred partner for over 310 OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
In the autonomous driving space, its digital LiDAR solutions are now used by over 90% of global core Robotaxi and Robotruck players, including Didi Autonomous Driving and Baidu's Apollo Go. This technological leadership, combined with its expanding manufacturing scale, positions RoboSense to capture a significant share of the growing market for perception systems in both vehicles and a new generation of intelligent robots.
