PATEO CONNECT Technology will integrate NVIDIA's DRIVE AGX Thor platform into its next-generation AI BOX for a leading Chinese new energy vehicle maker, a move that accelerates the mass production of sophisticated AI-powered vehicle cockpits and in-car large models. The deal, announced April 23, positions PATEO as one of the first AI companies to bring a mass-produced solution to market using NVIDIA’s high-end automotive chip.
"These moves mark a shift from technical pilots to scaled commercialization of automotive large models," a PATEO CONNECT statement noted, highlighting the deal strengthens its role as an integrated solutions provider for intelligent vehicles.
The collaboration will see PATEO's AI BOX deployed in the NEV maker's upcoming models, providing the high-performance computing power necessary for next-generation large AI model deployment inside the car. The system will also reportedly integrate ByteDance’s general-purpose AI and explore new business models such as token-based billing for in-vehicle features. Following the announcement, PATEO's Hong Kong-listed shares (2889.HK) rose 5.35 percent.
For NVIDIA, this partnership solidifies its DRIVE platform's position within the world's largest electric vehicle market, creating a key revenue stream beyond its dominant data center business. For PATEO, with a market cap of HK$17.98 billion, it secures a critical role in the supply chain of a major NEV manufacturer, directly tying its growth to the adoption of advanced in-vehicle AI.
The Race to Deploy DRIVE Thor
NVIDIA's DRIVE Thor is a centralized car computer designed to consolidate a vehicle's digital instrument cluster, infotainment, and autonomous driving functions onto a single system-on-a-chip (SoC). This integration promises to reduce cost and complexity for automakers while enabling advanced AI capabilities. The platform competes directly with offerings from companies like Qualcomm, which has its own Snapdragon Digital Chassis. By securing a mass-production deal with PATEO and a major NEV maker, NVIDIA gains a significant foothold for its latest-generation automotive hardware.
New In-Car Business Models
The partnership also hints at a future of software-defined vehicles with recurring revenue streams. The mention of exploring "in-vehicle token-based billing" suggests a model where consumers could pay for specific AI features or computing power on demand. This could unlock new, continuous revenue for both the automaker and technology providers like PATEO, moving beyond the one-time sale of the vehicle.
The collaboration reinforces PATEO's strategic position in the intelligent vehicle ecosystem. One analyst report covering the company assigns a Buy rating with a HK$200.00 price target, well above its current trading level. The successful deployment of the DRIVE Thor-based AI BOX will be a critical milestone for both PATEO and NVIDIA as they seek to define the future of the AI-powered car.
