Lenovo Group is targeting a record-breaking fiscal year 2025/26, as the world's largest PC maker pivots to a new strategy centered on artificial intelligence, the company announced on April 1.
"The just-concluded 2025/26 fiscal year was the best in the company's history, marking a successful start to its new decade in artificial intelligence," Chairman and CEO Yang Yuanqing said at the company's 2026/27 fiscal year kickoff meeting in Beijing.
While specific financial results for the 2025/26 fiscal year were not disclosed, Yang's projection of record revenue signals strong confidence. The announcement frames the company's future around the integration of AI into its core product lines, including PCs and smartphones, positioning it against competitors like Apple and Dell who are also investing heavily in AI capabilities.
The strategic shift is critical for Lenovo as the PC market looks for new growth drivers after a post-pandemic slowdown. For investors, the focus on AI could unlock new revenue streams and higher margins, though success will depend on how its AI-enabled devices compete against a market of increasingly intelligent products from rivals.
The AI PC Race
Lenovo's declaration places it firmly in the race to define the next generation of personal computing. The concept of the "AI PC" — devices with dedicated neural processing units (NPUs) capable of running AI tasks locally — is seen by manufacturers as a major upgrade cycle catalyst. This puts Lenovo in direct competition with HP, Dell, and Apple, all of whom are bringing similar devices to market. The key differentiator will be the software and AI-powered services that can leverage this new hardware.
