Chinese smartphone maker Honor and e-commerce firm JD.com (09618.HK) have entered a strategic partnership, setting a three-year goal to achieve a cumulative cooperation value exceeding RMB 100 billion. The deal deepens the ties between the two companies, focusing on product development, user operations, and ecosystem integration.
The agreement, confirmed by both companies, outlines a new framework for deep integration and value co-creation. The partnership will concentrate on three core areas: co-creating products, jointly operating user bases, and sharing their respective hardware and software ecosystems to explore new growth drivers.
Further collaboration is planned across several high-tech domains. The two sides will advance AI-driven product development to enhance user experiences, expand into the robotics and smart hardware sectors, and use their combined strengths for intellectual property and consumer-to-manufacturer (C2M) customization projects.
This alliance aims to bolster JD.com’s position in the competitive electronics retail market by integrating Honor's significant user base and hardware portfolio. For Honor, the partnership provides a powerful retail and logistics channel, potentially accelerating its market share growth against rivals. The move signals a deeper push by both firms into AI and the Internet of Things (IoT), creating a more integrated ecosystem to challenge competitors like Alibaba and other major smartphone brands in the region.
