Several cryptocurrencies linked to Donald J. Trump gained on May 5 after the president’s son, Eric Trump, unveiled the official logo for the newly named Donald J. Trump International Airport. The Solana-based Official Trump (TRUMP) token added 3.75 percent, a community token named MAGA (TRUMP) rose 3.29 percent, and TrumpCoin (DJT) saw a 1.1 percent increase, according to CoinGecko data.
"For the first time, I am extremely proud to share the OFFICIAL logo for the Donald J. Trump International Airport in Palm Beach, Florida," Eric Trump said in a post on the social media platform X. "Congratulations Dad! Looking forward to seeing flights landing at ‘DJT’ very very soon!" The post featured the new logo, a golden eagle with a crest shield and olive branches.
The rally added to the market capitalization of the largest token, TRUMP, which stands above $558 million, though it remains 96 percent below its 2025 peak. The smaller TrumpCoin (DJT), which is most directly tied to the proposed airport call letters, has a market value of approximately $647,000. The rebranding of the airport, formerly Palm Beach International (PBI), was set in motion after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation in March, with around $5.5 million allocated for the changes.
The event highlights the growing connection between political branding and the speculative “PoliFi” token market, where asset prices react to news and political developments. While the airport’s name officially changes on July 1, 2026, the next major catalyst for the DJT token specifically depends on a separate federal bill, introduced by Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fla.), to change the airport’s three-letter IATA code from PBI to DJT.
The Palm Beach County Commission approved the branding and a related trademark agreement in a 4-3 vote on Tuesday. The deal grants the county a royalty-free license to use the Trump name and image for airport operations. It also gives DTTM Operations, a company headed by Donald Trump Jr. that manages the president's trademarks, control over the approval and manufacturing of airport-branded merchandise.
The logo’s design drew immediate criticism online, with some commentators on social media and an article on TheTravel.com describing it as having "big Microsoft Paint energy." Critics pointed to the confusing arrangement of stars and compared it to other branding efforts by the president.
This is not the first time Trump-themed tokens have reacted to real-world events. Prices have previously moved on presidential remarks and a summit held at Mar-a-Lago for top token holders. The July 1 effective date for the airport's name change presents the next milestone that traders will be watching closely.
