Production of 30 Trucks Completed for May 2026 Shipment
U Power (Nasdaq: UCAR) confirmed on March 17, 2026, that it has completed production of the first 30 battery-swapping electric heavy-duty trucks for the Thai market. The company scheduled the pilot shipment for late May 2026, marking a significant step from prototype testing to commercial production. This initial batch serves as a tangible validation of the company's manufacturing capacity and its strategy to penetrate the Southeast Asian market.
1,000-Vehicle Deployment Anchored by Whale Logistics Deal
This delivery is the first phase of a broader plan to deploy 1,000 battery-swapping trucks in Thailand. The initiative is underpinned by a strategic partnership with Whale Logistics (Thailand) Co., Ltd., which was formalized in December 2025. The move to mass production follows the successful completion of three months of comprehensive road testing and system integration, which was announced on March 11, 2026. The project was jointly developed with partners SAIC Hongyan Automotive Co., Ltd. and UNEX EV, ensuring the vehicles meet the specific operational demands of highway logistics in the region.
UOTTA Technology Drives Competitive Edge in Southeast Asia
Central to U Power's strategy is its proprietary UOTTA™ battery-swapping technology, which enables battery changes within minutes. This capability allows electric transport vehicles to match the operational efficiency of conventional diesel trucks, a critical factor for the logistics industry. Furthermore, the model allows fleet operators to avoid major capital expenditures on grid expansion and charging infrastructure while mitigating concerns over battery degradation. This provides a scalable and cost-effective solution for electrifying commercial transport.
Completing full-condition road testing of our pilot vehicles confirms the reliability and efficiency of the UOTTA battery-swapping model. Thailand is a strategic market in U Power’s global growth plan.
