Nvidia to Ship DLSS 4.5 With 6x Frame Boost on March 31
Nvidia is set to widen its technological lead in the graphics card market with the launch of its DLSS 4.5 update. The new features, including Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and a 6x Multi Frame Generation mode, will become available through an opt-in beta on March 31 for users of the company's upcoming GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs. The 6x mode represents a substantial performance increase, capable of generating five additional frames for every one natively rendered, up from the three frames possible with DLSS 4.
This advancement is driven by a new second-generation transformer AI model, representing a deeper fusion of generative AI with real-time rendering. The strategic importance of this shift was highlighted by Nvidia's CEO.
DLSS 5 is the GPT moment for graphics—it seamlessly merges handcrafted rendering with generative AI, achieving a monumental leap in visual realism while preserving the artist's creative control.

Tech Update Aligns With Key Game Launches Starting March 19
Nvidia has secured support for its new technology in over 20 upcoming and existing games, ensuring immediate application for its performance enhancements. The company's Game Ready Driver for Crimson Desert and DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH will launch on March 19. Other major titles slated to integrate DLSS 4.5 include 007 First Light, launching May 27, and CONTROL Resonant. This software offensive is timed to maximize the technology's impact as major titles hit the market.
Beyond PC gaming, Nvidia is expanding its ecosystem's reach. Starting March 19, its GeForce NOW cloud gaming service will support frame rates up to 90fps on virtual reality headsets, an increase from the previous 60fps limit. Additionally, the company announced the integration of its CloudXR streaming technology into Apple's visionOS, enabling developers to stream high-fidelity experiences from RTX PCs directly to the Apple Vision Pro headset.
Launch Preempts AMD's Rumored FSR 4.1 Update
Nvidia's announcement appears timed to counter competitive moves from its primary rival, AMD. Leaked DLL files dated March 12 suggest that AMD is preparing to launch its own FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 4.1 update. Market speculation points to a potential release around the March 19 launch of Crimson Desert, an AMD-partnered title. By releasing its own optimized driver for the game on the same day, Nvidia is directly challenging AMD on a key partner release, demonstrating the intense competition within the semiconductor industry.
