XRP Ledger's BatchV1_1 amendment has drawn 68 percent validator support, approaching the 80 percent threshold needed for activation before the end of September.
"Almost there! XRP Ledger Builders have waited so long for it," Vet, an XRPL validator active in the community, said on X. The feature could make it easier for developers to charge directly for services rather than allowing users to "free ride," Vet added.
The amendment, introduced in XRP Ledger software version 3.3.0 released Aug. 6, would let developers package as many as eight separate transactions into a single on-ledger operation and define how those actions depend on one another. The original Batch amendment was disabled earlier this year after a critical bug was discovered. Support must remain above 80 percent continuously for two weeks for BatchV1_1 to go live; if support falls below that level, the countdown resets.
The upgrade removes the need for complicated infrastructure in some applications and could expand the range of use cases on the XRP Ledger, which settled $159.9 billion in value in the first half of 2026 and supported more than 3 million daily transactions at its peak.
An XRPL community member said the amendment "will unlock a lot of new use cases for the XRP ecosystem." Historically, developers have not been able to combine several separate XRPL transactions, limiting the complexity of applications that could be built on the ledger.
The amendment's progress comes as XRP trades near $1.42 as of Sept. 7, holding above the $1.40 support level after an August rally of 28.5 percent that marked the token's strongest August since 2021. Spot XRP ETFs have accumulated $1.68 billion in cumulative net inflows since regulatory approval in March, with $153.55 million arriving in August alone. Total value locked on the XRPL expanded from $32.31 million in July to $44.42 million by August's end, according to DefiLlama data.
On-chain activity on the XRP Ledger reached record levels in August, with active addresses climbing to 2.26 million from 1.02 million in July. Payment volume surged 521 percent in a single week in late August, driven by fewer but substantially larger transfers — a signature of institutional or enterprise-level operations. The broader crypto market has also rebounded, with total market capitalization approaching $2.82 trillion.
The Senate's Digital Asset Market Clarity Act vote on Sept. 15 adds a regulatory dimension to the network's technical evolution. If passed, the bill would classify XRP as a commodity rather than a security, potentially accelerating institutional participation in the ecosystem. The Federal Reserve's rate decision on Sept. 16 will also influence risk-asset sentiment.
