Doug Busch, senior technical analyst at Barron's Investor Circle, identified a $453.50 buy point for Tesla, targeting a 36% gain to $600 by year-end.
"Tesla is approaching an important technical inflection point," Busch said. "The stock is quickly approaching a double bottom with handle buy point on the daily chart."
The double-bottom-with-handle base began forming after a bearish shooting star appeared on Dec. 22, 2025. The correction tested support at the prior bullish ascending triangle breakout from September 2025, confirming that former resistance had turned into support. The handle portion of the pattern coincided with a bullish morning star completed on May 20, the same day the stock reclaimed its 200-day simple moving average.
On the weekly chart, a double top formed near the $500 level in late 2024, with a bearish shooting star followed by a doji warning that upside momentum was fading. The stock then entered a 50% drawdown before stabilizing after consecutive bullish hammer candles in March 2025 and back-to-back bullish engulfing candles during the Liberation Day lows in April. Those reversal patterns sparked a recovery rally back toward $500.
A breakout above the $453.50 pivot could open the door for a move to $600 by year-end, representing a 36% gain from current levels. The bullish outlook remains intact above $420. On the weekly chart, a confirmed breakout above the bullish ascending triangle trigger at $500 could lead to a measured move toward $730 by the end of 2027.
Tesla traded around $440 Wednesday, up 1.56% on the session. The State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF rose 1.76%. Recent strength has also been fueled by growing investor excitement surrounding Elon Musk's broader ecosystem, including speculation of a future SpaceX IPO and increasing collaboration between Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI.
The technical setup signals a potential inflection point for Tesla after a prolonged correction. Investors will watch for a close above $453.50 as the next catalyst for momentum.
