Fresh buying into Bittensor's TAO token, drawn by its Sept. 6 expansion onto Robinhood Chain via Chainlink CCIP and the Runtime 454 emissions upgrade, pushed the price up 12.3 percent to $264.98.

Bittensor's TAO token rose 12.3 percent to $264.98 on Sept. 7, extending a rally driven by its Robinhood Chain expansion and a tokenomics upgrade.
CoinGecko data shows TAO's 24-hour trading volume climbed to roughly $175 million to $200 million, with heightened activity on Binance, Coinbase and KuCoin. The move follows Bittensor's Sept. 6 integration onto Robinhood Chain through Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, giving the token a new distribution route and access to fresh liquidity pools.
The advance also tracks a rotation into AI-linked tokens, with TAO among the largest decentralized AI networks. Protocol changes are reinforcing the bid: the Runtime 454 proposal would introduce "smarter emissions," distributing a fixed daily issuance of 3,600 TAO to subnets based on each token's exponential moving average price and throttling underperformers.
Traders are weighing whether the move can hold after technical signals flashed caution. The Stochastic RSI registered a "Strong Sell" reading on Sept. 6, and CoinCodex on Sept. 4 projected a possible pullback toward $189.45 to $230.05 through Sept. 7.
The Sept. 6 integration, executed through Chainlink's CCIP, is the most concrete driver of the move. It lets TAO trade across Robinhood Chain, broadening the token's reach beyond the centralized exchanges where most volume has concentrated. Open interest on TAO derivatives rose about 5.2 percent in 24 hours, and on-chain alerts flagged a 577 TAO outflow from Bitget to a fresh address, consistent with accumulation rather than distribution.
The volume surge aligns with a wider market rotation into AI tokens. Altcoin Daily, in a summary of five altcoins with greater near-term upside than Ethereum or XRP heading into the fourth quarter, cited Bittensor alongside Hyperliquid, Chainlink, Uniswap and Solana, arguing the shift toward open-source AI should benefit TAO.
The Runtime 454 proposal, already published and awaiting validator signatures, reframes how the network pays its subnets. By tying emissions to each subnet token's price rather than raw activity, the change is pitched as directing capital to high-demand AI services and curbing launch speculation. The framing has drawn comparisons to Zcash as an "AI Bitcoin" with a capped supply, a thesis some traders argue leaves TAO undervalued.
Forward-looking support comes from the Exploit Summit Montreal, scheduled for Sept. 28-29, where core contributors plan to gather AI researchers, validators and developers. Traders often front-run such events ahead of possible announcements, giving the summit weight as a multi-week narrative anchor.
TAO's 0.75 correlation with Bitcoin means the token leans on the broader market, and Bitcoin's move above $80,000 on Sept. 6 provided a supportive backdrop. Yet the same AI rotation that lifted TAO has left it stretched: the Stochastic RSI's "Strong Sell" signal and CoinCodex's correction forecast point to consolidation risk after a run that outpaced the wider altcoin complex.
