Space and Time, a Microsoft-backed blockchain data firm, launched its Dreamspace AI builder for creating applications on the Base blockchain after more than 34,000 apps were developed in beta. The public rollout provides a no-code solution for generating and deploying on-chain projects.
"It’s about making it really easy to deploy an app that has a smart contract, where that smart contract is audited and you, as the creator, actually own it, sign it, and deploy it to an [Ethereum-based] chain,” Space and Time co-founder Scott Dykstra told Decrypt.
The platform, which has already onboarded 140,000 students, uses Microsoft's Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI. While front ends are hosted on Azure, the smart contracts can be deployed to any Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible blockchain. The system defaults to Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network, which supported the product during its beta testing and enables transactions costing less than one cent.
The launch aims to simplify on-chain development, potentially lowering the barrier for entry for creators and businesses on Ethereum-compatible networks. "This exciting new project makes starting an onchain business as simple as having an idea worth building," said Eric Brown, Head of AI Developer Relations at Base, in a statement.
From Beta to Public Launch
Dykstra compared Dreamspace to Lovable, an AI coding platform for building traditional applications, but emphasized Dreamspace's specific focus on the blockchain. The key differentiator is its ability to not only generate a front-end but to also create, audit, and deploy the underlying smart contracts that power the application.
Founded in 2022, Space and Time provides data infrastructure for on-chain finance and has been increasing its focus on artificial intelligence. The Dreamspace platform has seen significant adoption in educational settings, with schools in Indonesia creating AI labs and curriculum centered around the tool.
