SharpLink posted a $1.08 billion net loss for the six months ended June 30 as $827.7 million in unrealized Ethereum declines and $267.8 million in staking-token impairments hit its books.
Chief Executive Officer Joseph Chalom said the company remained "highly active across both treasury management and Ethereum ecosystem development" during the quarter, pointing to accelerating institutional adoption and expanding onchain activity.
Revenue reached $11.5 million in the second quarter, up from about $697,000 a year earlier, with staking supplying $11.2 million. Cash and cash equivalents totaled $56.2 million at June 30, up from $28.5 million at the end of 2025.
The Nasdaq-listed company held 888,938 ETH-equivalent units as of Aug. 3 — 634,255 native ETH, 181,748 from LsETH and 72,935 from weETH on an as-if-redeemed basis — worth roughly $1.7 billion at ETH's $1,916.57 price on Aug. 10. SharpLink estimates a material portion of its staked ETH could convert to cash in about 30 days, with the full staking portfolio taking roughly 90 days.
Staking Liquidity Shapes the Balance Sheet
The six-month loss was 934.3 percent above the roughly $104.4 million recorded a year earlier, though the comparison spans different operating profiles because SharpLink launched its ETH treasury strategy on June 2, 2025. The $827.7 million unrealized decline and $267.8 million in LsETH and weETH impairments were predominantly non-cash charges that did not reduce the number of tokens controlled.
Ethereum validator exits vary with network demand and require sweep processing after exit. LsETH redemptions can require validator exits when protocol liquidity is insufficient, while weETH withdrawals can face network-dependent delays despite having no fixed lock period. SharpLink describes its unencumbered crypto assets as additional liquidity support beyond cash, while warning that stressed markets could impede sales or force unfavorable pricing.
The company's crypto portfolio carried a combined value of about $1.4 billion under U.S. GAAP at quarter's end. Total assets declined to $1.42 billion from $2.43 billion at the end of 2025, while stockholders' equity fell to $1.41 billion from $2.42 billion.
SharpLink completed a $75 million registered direct offering on June 23, issuing 10,013,351 common shares and accompanying warrants at a combined price of $7.49. Part of the proceeds funded the purchase of about 10,000 ETH at an average price of $1,611, while the company repurchased roughly 2.1 million shares for about $10 million. Common shares outstanding increased 10.3 percent to 216.98 million at June 30 from 196.71 million at the end of 2025, and the company reported a diluted loss of $1.88 per share in the second quarter, compared with $4.27 a year earlier.
After the quarter closed, SharpLink committed $100 million to the $125 million Galaxy SharpLink Onchain Yield Fund, with Galaxy Digital contributing the remaining $25 million and serving as investment manager. The company also joined the Russell 2000 and Russell 3000 indexes during June's reconstitution. Its shares fell about 6 percent to roughly $6.02 on Aug. 10 after the results.
The 90-day conversion timeline for SharpLink's staked treasury shows a broader liquidity question for companies holding large Ethereum positions: staking rewards generate recurring revenue, but the exit queue can bind capital precisely when cash is needed. For a company whose accumulated deficit reached $1.89 billion, the gap between a $1.7 billion gross mark and the cash it can actually access on short notice is the metric investors will watch.
