SBI Ripple Asia on April 7, 2026, announced the completion of its XRP Ledger token issuance platform, a new bridging layer for enterprise-grade digital asset transactions.
"The platform is designed to serve the growing demand for asset tokenization and smooth cross-border value movement among our corporate clients," a spokesperson for SBI Ripple Asia said in the announcement.
The platform enables businesses to issue and manage various digital assets directly on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). This infrastructure is built to handle integrated transactions, connecting institutional finance with the capabilities of the XRPL ecosystem, a space where it competes for enterprise use-cases with platforms like R3's Corda and J.P. Morgan's Onyx. The move follows a multi-year development effort by the joint venture between Japan's SBI Holdings and Ripple.
The launch provides a critical piece of infrastructure that could significantly enhance the utility of the XRP Ledger for enterprise tokenization, a market projected to grow into the trillions. By attracting more institutional users and developers, the platform may increase on-chain activity and demand for the XRP token, which is used for transaction fees and as a bridge currency on the ledger. The next milestone will be the onboarding of the first cohort of corporate clients, expected in Q3 2026.
