Nasdaq 100 futures rose in pre-market trading Tuesday, led by chip stocks that bounced after early earnings beats, while lower oil prices eased pressure on interest rate expectations.
"Strong earnings from semiconductor companies are reinforcing the AI demand narrative heading into the big reports next week," said Sarah Lin, equity strategist at Edgen.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. shares gained more than 3% in pre-market trading after Nikkei Asia reported the foundry plans to raise prices for chipmaking services by as much as 10% next year. The move lifted the broader semiconductor complex, with peers tracking higher ahead of the opening bell.
The rally comes ahead of a crucial stretch for the tech sector, with major AI-related earnings reports due in the coming weeks. Investors are watching to see whether the artificial intelligence spending boom continues to translate into revenue growth for the industry's biggest names. Lower crude oil prices, meanwhile, helped reduce bond yield pressure, providing additional support for growth stocks.
