Loopscale launches $10M USDC vault on Solana with reinsurance yields

Loopscale, the Solana lending protocol, launched a $10 million USDC vault that bundles fixed-yield lending with reinsurance exposure, the company said June 9.

"The OnRe Growth vault lets users deposit USDC and get exposure to ONyc reinsurance yields without managing positions themselves," Mary Gooneratne, co-founder and chief operating officer of Loopscale, said.

The vault, built on Exponent Finance v2 Strategy Vaults, is the first product under Loopscale Earn. It consolidates fixed-yield lending, borrowing, market making, and reinsurance into a single deposit managed by Loopscale Asset Curation, which rebalances daily. Reinsurance — insurance for insurance companies — represents a multi-trillion dollar traditional finance market rarely accessed through DeFi rails.

The $10 million capacity cap signals a cautious rollout from a protocol that suffered a $5.8 million exploit shortly after its April 2025 launch. Depositors are trusting Loopscale Asset Curation with strategy discretion rather than relying on transparent pool mechanics where rates are set by market dynamics.

Loopscale surpassed $100 million in total deposits shortly after its April 2025 debut. Its core architectural bet replaces the pooled variable-rate lending model used by Aave and Compound on Ethereum with an order book system that matches lenders directly with borrowers, offering more precise rate discovery. Exponent Finance v2, which underpins the vault, launched around late May 2026.

DeFi has experimented with real-world asset yields through tokenized treasuries, real estate, and credit products. Reinsurance represents a less explored frontier. Loopscale's attempt to bridge traditional risk products with crypto-native capital on Solana will test whether institutional-grade yield sources can attract meaningful total value locked to the network.
