Huawei's push into the premium electric vehicle market is accelerating with its Harmony Intelligent Mobility division launching the Luxeed V9, a high-end MPV with a pre-sale starting price of 399,800 yuan ($55,200), directly challenging established players in China's lucrative premium segment.
The launch at the Beijing Auto Show signals Huawei's strategy to replicate the success of its Aito M9 SUV. "The Luxeed V9 will fully replicate the path of the Aito M9," a source close to Huawei told local media, referencing the M9's rapid market traction.
The V9 enters the market with pre-sale prices ranging from 399,800 to 529,800 yuan. It is equipped with a ±7-degree rear-wheel steering system, enabling a tight 5.35-meter turning radius that is among the smallest in its class. This feature, part of the Tuling chassis platform, aims to overcome the stereotype of MPVs being difficult to maneuver. The vehicle also boasts high-end interior features, including Nappa leather zero-gravity seats and an advanced air purification system.
The introduction of the V9 is set to intensify competition in China's premium MPV space, a market segment that has seen growing demand from affluent families. By leveraging its advanced technology, including the Qiankun 896-line LiDAR and Harmony ALPS Health Cockpit 3.0, Huawei and its partners are betting on smart features and luxury to capture market share from both domestic and international automakers. The brand's presence at the auto show, where it also showcased refreshed R7 and S7 models, underscores its ambition to build a global high-end automotive brand.
