Perpetual DEX trading terminal Genius announced its Season 1 airdrop, distributing 70 million GENIUS tokens with a dual-claim system that gives users a choice between immediate liquidity and a larger, delayed allocation.
"Users can choose to claim immediately within a 7-day window and receive only 30% of their allocation (70% burned), or wait one year to claim 100%," the project's official announcement stated.
The airdrop provides a distinct trade-off for participants. Those opting for an instant claim will forfeit a significant majority of their tokens, which the protocol will permanently remove from circulation by burning them. The alternative is to lock the entire airdropped amount for a one-year period, after which the full allocation becomes accessible.
This mechanism is designed to mitigate the immediate sell pressure that often follows large-scale token airdrops. By incentivizing users to lock their tokens, the Genius team aims to foster a more stable price discovery phase for the GENIUS token post-launch. The model could serve as a blueprint for future DeFi projects looking to better align token distributions with long-term project support.
