Gate.io expanded its Hong Kong stock trading service to about 1,500 listed companies, letting users fund equity purchases directly with the USDT stablecoin.
"Users can now trade Hong Kong stocks without opening a separate brokerage account or converting funds into Hong Kong dollars," a Gate.io spokesperson said.
The expansion covers stocks on both the HKEX Main Board and the Growth Enterprise Market, including Tencent Holdings, HSBC Holdings, China Mobile and BYD. The exchange previously offered about 1,000 Hong Kong stocks. Gate also supports trading in about 10,000 major US stocks and exchange-traded funds. Only intraday trading is available for Hong Kong equities, and users must update the Gate App to version v8.23.5 or above to access the feature.
The move positions Gate among a growing number of crypto platforms bridging digital assets and traditional securities, potentially drawing crypto-native capital into Hong Kong's equity market. The exchange said it will continue expanding its coverage of global equities and traditional financial assets.
