Exelixis reported Q2 revenue of approximately $628.7 million, missing consensus estimates, and lowered its full-year 2026 revenue outlook, sending shares lower in after-hours trading.
The guidance reduction followed the company's May 5 reiteration of its full-year 2026 financial outlook. "Finally, we are reiterating our full year 2026 financial guidance," Chief Financial Officer Christopher Senner said on that call. Weeks later, the company lowered and narrowed that revenue outlook, citing a slower-than-expected ramp in its neuroendocrine-tumor business.
Second-quarter revenue of $628.7 million came in below Wall Street consensus. On the May 5 call, Chief Executive Officer Michael Morrissey described CABOMETYX as continuing "to grow in revenue, demand, and market share as the leading TKI for RCC and the market leader for neuroendocrine tumors in the oral second-line plus segment."
The revenue shortfall and guidance cut triggered a securities investigation by Levi & Korsinsky LLP, which is examining whether Exelixis made materially false or misleading statements regarding its full-year 2026 revenue guidance and the commercial ramp of its neuroendocrine-tumor business. Investors who purchased EXEL shares and suffered losses may be eligible to participate in the investigation, with no upfront cost.
The investigation covers investors who bought EXEL stock or securities and suffered financial losses, regardless of whether they still hold the shares. Eligibility is based on purchase date and documented losses. Brokerage statements or trade confirmations showing purchase dates, share quantities, and prices paid are required to participate. U.S. securities investigations generally cover purchases on U.S. exchanges regardless of the investor's country of residence.
The investigation adds legal and reputational risk to a company already facing investor scrutiny over its growth trajectory. Bank of America Corp. trimmed its stake in Exelixis by 26 percent during the first quarter, while Assenagon Asset Management lifted its position by 212.7 percent in the second quarter, according to regulatory filings. Exelixis shares face continued downward pressure as the market digests the revenue miss and reduced guidance. The next key event for shareholders is the company's response to the investigation and any updates on the neuroendocrine-tumor ramp in its third-quarter report.
