Ether's breakout above $2,500 on Aug. 24 marks its first trade at these levels since mid-April, with corporate treasury accumulation adding a new demand layer.

Ether rose above $2,500 on Aug. 24, breaking key resistance as Bitmine extended its 14-month ETH accumulation streak toward its stated treasury target.
Spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $697 million in net inflows between Aug. 17 and Aug. 21, according to Wu Blockchain data, while institutional fund holdings climbed to 5.8 million ETH.
The breakout was supported by $1.69 billion in short liquidations across major exchanges over three days, according to AMBCrypto. ETH traded at $2,520 as of 11:29 UTC, up nearly 8 percent over seven days and roughly 26 percent from recent lows. Bitcoin held near $77,000, with total crypto market capitalization at approximately $2.61 trillion. XRP gained about 50 percent over the week to near $1.48.
The next resistance sits at $2,700, with support at $2,400. A sustained hold above $2,500 could open the path toward $3,000, while a break below $2,400 would signal a deeper consolidation.
Bitmine has been accumulating ETH for 14 consecutive months and is nearing its long-stated treasury target. The company's continued buying adds a corporate demand layer to ETH's price action, following a pattern established by other firms that have adopted crypto treasury strategies. The accumulation streak suggests sustained institutional conviction in ETH's long-term value proposition, and if Bitmine completes its stated target, other corporates may follow suit.
The corporate treasury narrative for ETH has gained traction as more companies diversify balance sheets into digital assets. Bitmine's approach differs from one-off purchases in that it represents a systematic, multi-quarter accumulation program, which provides a more predictable demand stream for the token.
Spot Ethereum ETFs attracted $697 million in net inflows between Aug. 17 and Aug. 21, according to Wu Blockchain data. This follows $512.4 million in inflows over four days and a $1.69 billion short squeeze that liquidated positions across major exchanges. The reduction in overall market leverage after the squeeze has created a healthier market structure, with the Crypto Fear and Greed Index at 79 indicating elevated but not extreme optimism.
The Relative Strength Index on ETH's four-hour chart sits around 66, showing strong momentum without reaching overbought conditions. However, a bearish MACD crossover suggests short-term momentum may be starting to weaken, and traders are watching whether ETH can sustain its position above $2,500.
The combination of corporate treasury accumulation, sustained ETF inflows, and reduced leverage creates a more durable demand base for ETH. However, the Fear and Greed Index at 79 and the roughly 30 percent weekly gain suggest the market is increasingly crowded on the long side, raising the risk of a short-term consolidation before the next leg higher.
