From Miami on May 4, 2026, the iconic DeLorean brand officially entered the Web3 space on Solana, with its native DeLorean Labs token (DMC) bridging to the high-speed blockchain.
"DeLorean is about momentum, innovation, and pushing boundaries, values that align perfectly with what’s happening on Solana," said Evan Kuhn, President of DeLorean Labs. "We’re not just launching a token; we’re committing to the ecosystem."
The integration, powered by the Wormhole bridge and Sunrise, allows Solana users to buy, hold, and stake the DMC token. Token holders will also gain access to future tokenized DeLorean vehicle drops and can participate in the brand's decentralized governance framework, a first for a major automotive company.
This move places DeLorean at the forefront of the real-world asset (RWA) tokenization trend, betting that mainstream brand recognition will drive the next wave of crypto adoption. By joining Google and Mastercard on Solana, DeLorean adds significant cultural weight to the ecosystem, potentially boosting user engagement and network value.
The launch is a clear execution of the DeLorean Labs thesis: making iconic intellectual property accessible and participatory. By choosing Solana, known for its high throughput and low transaction costs, the project aims to put a piece of the legendary brand directly into the hands of millions of retail users. "Seeing a brand like DeLorean move onchain is a big moment," said Saeed Badreg, CEO of Wormhole Labs.
DeLorean's launch contributes to a pattern of accelerating momentum for the Solana network. The move follows Western Union's recent launch of its USDPT stablecoin on Solana for cross-border settlements and Coinbase's integration of the DFlow trading protocol, which is set to reduce trade failures by a factor of eight on the platform.
The successful tokenization of a cultural icon like the DeLorean serves as a proof-of-concept for other major brands exploring Web3. The project's long-term impact will depend on the community's engagement with its governance model and the success of its tokenized vehicle drops, setting a potential new standard for how brands interact with their audience in a decentralized economy.
