Global Automakers Select Cerence AI for 2026 Models
Cerence Inc. announced on January 5, 2026, that multiple premium global automakers have selected its Cerence xUI™ platform to power their next-generation in-car assistants. The new systems are scheduled to debut in production vehicles launching in 2026. The announcement marks a significant validation for Cerence's strategy to embed its conversational AI in the automotive sector, even as its stock (NASDAQ: CRNC) closed down 4.07% on the day of the news.
The adoption of xUI aims to meet growing consumer demand for faster, more natural in-car experiences powered by large language models (LLMs). By providing a production-ready platform, Cerence allows automakers to integrate sophisticated, agentic AI capabilities that can be updated over the vehicle's lifecycle, creating continuous opportunities for new features and strengthening customer relationships.
NVIDIA and Microsoft Tech Accelerates AI Deployment
The Cerence xUI platform's capability is built upon a deep collaboration with NVIDIA and Microsoft. The system leverages NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, including NVIDIA NIM microservices, and runs on Microsoft's secure Azure cloud platform. This technology stack enables Cerence to deliver high-performance AI with lower latency and faster production cycles for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
This partnership builds on an initiative first expanded in January 2025 to accelerate Cerence’s automotive-grade LLMs. Cerence uses NVIDIA's AI supercomputing on Azure along with the NVIDIA NeMO framework to productize in-vehicle generative AI with improved operational efficiency.
Cerence xUI highlights what’s possible when automotive innovation meets enterprise-grade AI. Built on NVIDIA AI Enterprise and NVIDIA NIM on Microsoft Azure, Cerence delivers low-latency, production-ready AI optimized for the vehicle.
