Key Takeaways:
- BEP-675 lifts BSC testnet throughput 88% to 2,324 TPS
- Validator execution time cut from 125ms to 15ms
- Mainnet Pasteur hard fork set for Aug 25
Key Takeaways:

BSC testnet throughput rose 88% to 2,324 transactions per second after BNB Chain deployed BEP-675, a block-execution upgrade, on Aug 7.
"By removing the duplicate execution bottleneck, BEP-675 unlocks significant scalability potential," BNB Chain said in its H2 2026 roadmap, after the network's official X account reported the testnet result. The gain came without changing the 100M gas limit or the 450ms block interval.
The upgrade introduces a SendBidBlock mechanism that lets block builders submit fully executed blocks directly to validators, eliminating a redundant re-execution step. Critical-path validator execution time fell from 125ms to 15ms, and median gas usage per block jumped from 29.49M to 98.99M against the 100M cap, up from 46.35M on average. Previously, up to a quarter of blocks were submitted partially filled because builders ran out of time.
The mainnet Pasteur hard fork, scheduled for Aug 25, is expected to carry BEP-675 alongside Block-Level Access Lists. The proposal was first drafted on April 10 and went live on testnet roughly four months later.
BNB Chain ran the evaluation on QANet, a cross-region testnet built to mirror mainnet topology, covering varied transaction workloads rather than simple token transfers. The upgrade also targets bottlenecks tied to MEV infrastructure, which had forced validators to re-verify builder output on the critical path. Builders adopting BEP-675 must run a full node; legacy SendBid flows remain supported but face reduced packing time.
The testnet figure still needs validation at mainnet scale, particularly with multiple competing bids per slot. BNB Chain has pushed benchmark throughput near 5,200 TPS in earlier phases and aims to double mainnet throughput again, with a longer-term goal of 10x improvement over baseline. The scaling push follows the January Fermi hard fork, which cut block times to 450ms, and positions BSC against high-throughput rivals such as Solana and Ethereum's layer-2 networks for DeFi, gaming, and payments workloads.
BNB, the chain's native token, traded at $570.50 as of Aug 7, up 0.96% over 24 hours with a market cap of $75.94 billion. While BEP-675 does not directly move the token, faster settlement and fuller blocks strengthen BSC's appeal to developers, a factor that could support long-term demand for BNB.
