BNB (BNB) held support above the $600 level on Monday after retreating from an intraday high of $640, as traders weigh the potential impact of the network’s upcoming Osaka/Mendel hard fork scheduled for April 28.
Technical indicators suggest a bullish momentum shift may be underway as the network approaches its major upgrade. According to the daily chart, the Aroon Up line at 64.29 percent is significantly higher than the Aroon Down line, indicating buyers are in control, while the MACD indicator lines are pointing upwards.
The hard fork is a significant step for the BNB Chain, designed to improve network stability, execution quality for large-scale applications, and fee predictability by implementing new gas limit caps. The upgrade will also introduce a fast finality mechanism, ensuring transactions become irreversible almost instantly. All node operators on the chain are required to upgrade to version v1.7.2 before the April 28 deadline to remain connected to the network.
A potential bullish reversal could be forming on the daily chart, with a double bottom pattern targeting the $800 level if BNB price breaks above the pattern’s neckline at $687. The upgrade’s focus on stability and security is expected to attract institutional capital, while increased network activity could accelerate the BEP-95 burn mechanism, reducing BNB's circulating supply.
The price action comes as the broader crypto market shows renewed strength, with Bitcoin (BTC) reclaiming $78,000 and the CMC Crypto Fear & Greed Index entering the "Greed" category with a reading of 63 for the first time in six months. The BNB Chain ecosystem has shown resilience, with its total market cap growing 3.8 percent over the last week even as the RaveDAO (RAVE) token collapsed by over 90 percent, according to data from crypto.news. Other tokens on the chain, including MemeCore (M) and the AI-focused Highstreet (HIGH), have seen significant gains of 49.3 percent and 141.2 percent, respectively.
