Investor demand for crypto funds split on Sept. 2, when Bitcoin products drew $101.15 million while Ethereum, XRP, and Solana ETFs saw net outflows. The divergence extends a record August that pushed $3.52 billion into Bitcoin funds.

US spot Bitcoin ETFs absorbed $101.15 million in fresh capital on Sept. 2, while Ethereum, XRP, and Solana products saw daily net outflows, splitting investor demand across crypto funds.
BlackRock's IBIT led the session with $115.45 million in new capital, while Grayscale's GBTC continued to shed assets as holders shifted to lower-fee products, according to Cointelegraph. The inflow reversed a $236.5 million outflow the prior day.
The split follows a record August, when spot Bitcoin ETFs absorbed $3.52 billion — the strongest month of 2026 — as Bitcoin climbed about 25 percent. Funds recorded net inflows on 16 of 21 trading days, including nine straight sessions from Aug. 17 to 27, and total net assets rose about 31 percent to $99.61 billion by month-end from $76.29 billion at the end of July. Since the products debuted in January 2024, cumulative net inflows have reached roughly $54.7 billion.
Altcoin funds tell a different story over the longer window. Ethereum spot ETFs swung to cumulative net inflows of $732 million year-to-date after August, while XRP products lifted their year-to-date tally to $502 million from $343 million at the end of July. The September outflows show those gains stalling as investors rotate toward Bitcoin.
The divergence points to institutions consolidating crypto exposure into Bitcoin rather than spreading it across altcoins. Japan-listed Remixpoint this week sold its Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and Dogecoin holdings to focus solely on Bitcoin, booking a gain of about $742,000. Sustained Bitcoin inflows against altcoin outflows would reinforce Bitcoin's dominance and pressure ETH, XRP, and SOL prices near term.
Bitcoin traded near $77,000 on Sept. 2 after slipping from above $80,000 at the end of August, with the ETF flow reversal coinciding with that weakness. Total net assets across the funds stood near $97.22 billion, with trading volumes far outpacing altcoin ETF products. Whether the September split marks a lasting shift in allocation or a brief pause depends on whether Ethereum and XRP funds, which still hold positive 30-day inflows, resume drawing capital in the sessions ahead.
