Bitcoin's on-chain regime flipped bullish as CryptoQuant's Bull Score surged from 30 to 80, with $83,000 the last barrier to confirmation.

Bitcoin shifted to a bullish regime after a 24 percent rally since Aug. 17, with CryptoQuant's Bull Score jumping from 30 to 80 in one week.
"Market regime has switched to Bull for Bitcoin. Basically all metrics are pointing to the initial phase of a new bull market," Julio Moreno, head of research at CryptoQuant, said.
Bitcoin reached $80,000 on Aug. 25, its highest level since May 15, following a rally that Moreno linked to improving macro conditions. Eight of CryptoQuant's 10 underlying metrics now flash bullish. Apparent spot demand is growing at its fastest monthly pace since late December, and spot and futures demand are expanding together for the first time since October 2025.
The shift is not yet fully confirmed. Bitcoin must clear its 365-day moving average near $83,000 — a level that also coincides with the anchored volume-weighted average price from all-time highs — before CryptoQuant considers the bull market officially confirmed.
Technical analyst Nik, writing in his 90th Market Outlook on Substack, called Bitcoin's 20 percent weekly surge off the 200-week moving average at $64,500 one of the most decisive technical breaks of this cycle. Weekly RSI broke firmly above 50 for the first time since last year, but weekly structure remains bearish until Bitcoin posts a weekly close above the May highs near $83,000.
That level also aligns with the 365-day rolling VWAP, which has capped price throughout the bear market. Above $83,000, Nik targets the yearly open at $89,000 as the next meaningful stop. If Bitcoin pulls back before clearing resistance, the $70,000 to $74,000 range is the most likely area for a higher-low to form, given how many traders are waiting for a clean entry.
CryptoQuant warned the market could face a correction after the rapid move. Trader unrealized profit margins have climbed to 20.5 percent, their highest since June 2025, while whales realized a record $614 million in profits on Aug. 20. Exchange inflows across Bitcoin, Ether, and XRP have also increased, potentially adding near-term selling pressure.
Ethereum's weekly close just below its 200-week moving average at $2,463 — its highest since May — confirmed a cyclical bottom and a shift into a dip-buying environment, according to Nik. A weekly close above that level opens a retest of the $2,700 to $3,000 resistance cluster, where the anchored VWAP from all-time highs and the yearly open converge.
Despite the profit-taking risks, Moreno said valuation, demand, and liquidity indicators are now broadly pointing toward a bullish regime. The $83,000 level has emerged as the key technical and psychological marker that traders will monitor for confirmation of the new bull market. A decisive break above it could attract institutional inflows and potentially set up a move toward new highs, while a rejection could trigger a pullback toward the $70,000 to $74,000 support zone.
