The Tezos network is targeting a summer 2026 launch for its next major upgrade, Tezos X, which aims to bring confirmation times down to 50 milliseconds. The new roadmap was revealed by the TezDev development team on April 9.
"Tezos X mainnet could go live this summer," Arthur Breitman, an early architect of Tezos, announced. The upgrade represents a significant step forward in the blockchain's performance capabilities.
The proposed 50ms confirmation time is a dramatic improvement over existing speeds, positioning Tezos as a high-performance layer-1 blockchain. This technical upgrade is part of a broader ecosystem expansion, which includes the new metals.io platform moving beyond uranium tokenization, as noted in recent developer communications.
The mainnet launch is expected to generate positive momentum for the native XTZ token. Faster transaction finality could attract a new wave of developers and decentralized applications, increasing demand for the token as the launch approaches.
