Lenovo Group reported Q1 FY2027 revenue of $26.9 billion, up 43 percent year-over-year, with adjusted net income of $1,075 million, up 176 percent.
"The results beat expectations, with all three business divisions recording double-digit year-over-year revenue growth," Morgan Stanley analysts wrote in a research note, lifting the target price 76 percent to HKD66 from HKD37.4 while maintaining an "Outperform" rating.
Infrastructure Solutions Group revenue surged 98 percent to a record high, with operating margin reaching 9.1 percent. Intelligent Devices Group revenue rose 27 percent and Solutions & Services Group grew 28 percent. AI-related revenue climbed 60 percent year-over-year to $9.3 billion, now 35 percent of total revenue. Gross margin expanded 1.8 percentage points to 16.5 percent, while adjusted operating income rose 141 percent to $1,523 million.
The company reported a net loss of $609 million due to a $1.7 billion non-cash fair value loss on warrants, though adjusted net margin improved 1.9 points to 4.0 percent. Shares jumped nearly 20 percent on the release, with Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Citi and CLSA all raising price targets to between HKD48.7 and HKD51.
Morgan Stanley raised its FY2027-FY2029 adjusted net profit forecasts for Lenovo by 51.5 percent, 43.2 percent and 38.4 percent respectively, projecting FY2027 revenue growth of 30 percent to $108 billion with adjusted net profit of $4.3 billion. The bank kept the stock on its preferred buy list.
The company's AI-led total addressable market is expected to grow about 25 percent annually through FY29/30, according to the earnings release. Lenovo said it aims to achieve its $100 billion revenue target ahead of schedule this fiscal year. The company also advanced to 153rd in the Fortune Global 500 and cracked the top five in Gartner's Global Supply Chain ranking.
Operating expenses rose 123 percent year-over-year, mainly due to the fair value loss on warrants and higher employee costs. Net cash generated from operations was $382 million, down from $1.2 billion a year earlier.
The record quarter puts Lenovo ahead of peers including HP Inc. and Dell Technologies in capturing AI infrastructure demand, which has driven ISG's order backlog and margin expansion. Investors will watch whether the company can sustain ISG operating margins above 9 percent as it scales server production through the remainder of fiscal 2027.
