Fidelity-linked wallets moved 260,000 ETH worth $499.55 million into three addresses on Aug. 1, an internal custody reorganization that came as Ethereum traded at $1,867.43, down 0.92% over 24 hours.
The transfer split into 95,000 ETH ($182.53 million), 87,000 ETH ($167.23 million) and 78,000 ETH ($149.79 million), according to Arkham data cited by on-chain tracker Onchain Lens. All three receiving wallets were first funded by Fidelity six months ago, pointing to a rebalancing of internal custody rather than a move toward an exchange.
The whale activity extended beyond Fidelity. A wallet tied to BitMine bought 10,464 ETH, worth about $19.48 million, through FalconX, pushing the miner's holdings past 4.8% of Ethereum's circulating supply and keeping it the largest publicly traded ETH treasury. Separately, a wallet pulled 4,950 ETH, about $9.34 million, out of Binance and staked it through Lido, per Nansen data — a move that locks up liquidity rather than freeing it for sale.
Ethereum's validator entry queue has climbed to roughly 2.5 million ETH, with new validators facing about a 43-day activation wait, per Beaconcha.in data cited by Sygnum Bank. Around 41.2 million ETH, or 33.8% of circulating supply, is currently staked. Sygnum's Thomas Brunner said part of the backlog reflects existing validators topping up and compounding stake after last year's Pectra upgrade, which raised the per-validator cap to 2,048 ETH without lifting the daily entry rate. The near-empty exit queue, he added, shows holders staying put.
Not all flows were bullish. BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes deposited 2,364.38 ETH into Cumberland and Galaxy Digital over two hours, receiving about 4.3 million USDC at an average price near $1,821 — a loss of roughly $241,000, or 5.3%, against his earlier purchase near $1,923, per Lookonchain.
Ethereum's exchange netflow has stayed negative for six consecutive days, near -3,200 ETH, indicating continued withdrawals from trading platforms. The last comparable outflow stretch in early July preceded a climb from $1,700 to $1,900. Technically, ETH trades below its 20-day moving average with a bearish MACD crossover, though it holds above its 200-day moving average. If demand from BitMine and staking flows persists, ETH could reclaim its 20-day average and retest $1,950 before targeting $2,000; a break below $1,800 would open the next support near $1,750.
