Key Takeaways:
- Ethereum recorded $83 million in capital inflows on July 26, Artemis data shows.
- DEX volume on the network fell 22% in the past week to $360.9 million.
- Daily transactions held at 2.5 million, up from 1.5 million in 2025.
Key Takeaways:

Ethereum's on-chain activity is sending mixed signals — capital inflows hit $83 million while DEX trading volume continues to contract.
Ethereum recorded $83 million in capital inflows on July 26, even as decentralized exchange volume on the network fell 22% over the past week, data from Artemis and DefiLlama show.
"The divergence between capital inflows and DEX activity suggests a rotation within the Ethereum ecosystem rather than a broad-based retreat," said a researcher at Artemis, the on-chain analytics platform.
Net capital flow into Ethereum stood at $58.5 million on July 26, according to Artemis. Daily fees on the network averaged $200,000, reflecting sustained usage. Yet DEX volume dropped to roughly $360.9 million from a July 8 peak of $1.529 billion, DefiLlama data show. Stablecoin supply on Ethereum has also contracted, falling by about $4.8 billion since the start of July to $149.129 billion, with $1 billion in outflows in the past week alone.
The $83 million inflow signals that large holders are accumulating ETH near current levels around $1,888, but the decline in DEX and stablecoin activity suggests the broader DeFi ecosystem on Ethereum has yet to regain momentum. Sustained inflows over the coming weeks could provide the foundation for a price recovery, analysts said.
Capital flows point to accumulation despite weak DeFi activity
The $83 million capital inflow into Ethereum on July 26 marks one of the largest single-day net flows in recent weeks, according to Artemis. Netflow, which subtracts outflows from inflows, stood at $58.5 million, indicating that the majority of capital entering the chain remained deployed rather than exiting.
This accumulation trend contrasts with the broader slowdown in on-chain trading activity. DEX volume on Ethereum has declined roughly 53% from its July 8 peak of $1.529 billion, with the seven-day decline accelerating to 22%, DefiLlama data show. The drop coincides with a cooling memecoin market and reduced token issuance, which had previously driven much of the network's transactional volume.
Transaction growth suggests Ethereum may be undervalued
Despite the pullback in DEX activity, Ethereum's daily transaction count has held steady at around 2.5 million for most of 2026, up from an average of 1.5 million to 1.6 million in 2025, according to AMBCrypto. The combination of rising transaction volume, growing total value locked, and the recent capital inflow points to Ethereum trading below its fundamental value at $1,888, analysts said.
The ETH/BTC ratio, however, has fallen to a 10-month low of 0.02835, reflecting a broader capital rotation toward Bitcoin amid macroeconomic uncertainty. Ethereum has declined roughly 21% year-to-date in 2026, underperforming Bitcoin, which has held its dominance near 60%.
For Ethereum to stage a sustained rally, the capital inflows will need to persist and translate into renewed DEX activity. A daily close above $2,425 would signal a potential trend reversal, while a break below $2,106 could open the door to $2,000 or lower, technical analysts said.
