Cardano's ADA jumped 116% in 24-hour volume as it reclaimed $0.20, though resistance still blocks a sustained bull run.
Cardano's ADA rose 4.6% to $0.2002 as 24-hour trading volume climbed 116%, reclaiming the $0.20 level for the first time in months. CoinGecko data showed ADA trading at $0.2002 as of 18:00 UTC on Aug. 7, with 24-hour volume of $780 million and a market cap of $7.48 billion.
"Recovering the key 25 cents support range would trigger the full bullish reversal," Rand Group said in an Aug. 7 market post, pointing to $0.25 as the level that would confirm a broader trend change from Cardano's yearly downtrend.
The rally followed a series of network upgrades. The Van Rossem hard fork activated on Cardano mainnet July 20, upgrading the network to Protocol Version 11 and improving Plutus smart contract execution, throughput and node security. Intersect said development of the next phase, the Dijkstra era, has begun, with Nested Transactions and Linear Leios expected to reach mainnet before the end of 2026. On-chain data showed large holders accumulated roughly 240 million ADA before the breakout, while weekly futures volume rose from about $150 million to nearly $650 million. ADA futures volume jumped 121% to $1.13 billion on Aug. 7, according to CoinGlass.
ADA now faces its next test at the 100-day moving average near $0.197. A decisive close above that level could open a path toward $0.22 and eventually $0.25, while a drop below $0.195 support would raise the risk of a pullback toward $0.184. A proposed spot ADA exchange-traded fund faces an Oct. 23 regulatory deadline, keeping U.S. institutional access in focus.
The volume surge coincided with renewed interest in Cardano's development roadmap. The Van Rossem hard fork, proposed, voted on and ratified entirely through on-chain governance, was the first such upgrade for Cardano. Attention has shifted to Ouroboros Leios, a planned upgrade intended to increase transaction capacity, along with a proposed 2.5 million ADA development fund.
Cardano and Injective activated the first Inter-Blockchain Communication testnet connection on Aug. 4, creating the first trustless bridge between the Cardano and Cosmos ecosystems. Developers built specialized modules to translate Cardano's Extended UTXO accounting model into Injective's account-based architecture.
The 4-hour chart places ADA inside an ascending channel that began near $0.15 in late July. Price remains above the Bollinger Band midpoint at $0.195, making the $0.195-$0.20 range the first test for buyers. The Relative Strength Index stood at 60.19 on the 4-hour chart, with momentum bullish without reaching the 70 level associated with overbought conditions.
CoinGlass' three-day liquidation heatmap shows a large concentration of leveraged positions just below the market around $0.196-$0.198. A move below $0.195 could trigger long liquidations and accelerate a decline toward $0.19, with the lower Bollinger Band near $0.184 providing the next major support.
Fundamental weaknesses remain. Cardano's decentralized finance ecosystem holds about $68 million in total value locked, well behind larger layer-1 networks, raising the risk that price speculation is moving faster than organic activity on the blockchain.
The immediate outlook depends on whether ADA can convert $0.20 from resistance into support. Holding $0.195 would preserve the 4-hour uptrend, while a close above $0.21 would strengthen the case for $0.22 and eventually $0.25. Losing $0.195 would instead raise the probability of a deeper pullback toward $0.184.
