What Is Pump.fun: A Beginner’s Guide

A simple guide to Pump.fun in the memecoin launchpad space, covering team, backers, participation paths, and a project forecast for newcomers. For detailed report, click here

TL;DR

  • Pump.fun lets anyone launch a token on Solana in minutes.
  • PUMP is the live token that links fees, buybacks, and staking.
  • The platform is huge, but risk and volatility are also high.
  • The platform has completed significant token buybacks (~$61M), reducing the circulating supply of PUMP.

What Is Pump.fun?

Pump.fun is a one-click token factory and social trading venue on Solana. It turns token creation into a simple, low-cost action. The goal is to democratize launch, cut fraud, and amplify fun. Anyone can create a token for a small fee and start trading on a bonding curve (an automated price path that changes with supply). Tokens that reach a target size “graduate” to Raydium, a major decentralized exchange on Solana.

Pump.fun runs on the Solana chain. Its token, PUMP, went live in July 2025. PUMP connects platform revenue to holders through buybacks, burns, and staking.

Who Is The Team Behind Pump.fun?

  • Noah Tweedale, co-founder, product and operations.
  • Alon Cohen, co-founder, vision and community.
  • Dylan Kerler, co-founder, core engineering.

How Much Did They Fundraise, And Who Are The Backers?

The project started in January 2024 and scaled fast. It later ran a public Initial Coin Offering (ICO, a sale of a new token) in July 2025 after a private sale. Reports point to roughly one to plus billion dollars raised across private and public sales. Investor names are limited in public materials.

Revenue from platform fees has also been significant, which supports buybacks and operations. Partners include exchange and data categories, creator tools, and Solana ecosystem links.

What Is The Project’s Valuation?

PUMP is a live token. The market sets price every day. Any valuation can change with platform revenue, user growth, and wider crypto conditions. Numbers also move with competition and any legal outcomes.

Is There An Airdrop Or Rewards Opportunity?

There is a Community and Ecosystem allocation for users and builders. PUMP holders can stake to receive a share tied to buybacks. The platform directs a slice of fees to buy back PUMP, then burns a portion and shares the rest with stakers.

Coin creators also receive revenue share from PumpSwap, which can boost grassroots activity. If no new airdrop is active, value still accrues via buybacks, burns, and staking.

Buyback

As of August 28th, the official buyback site reports a total of 343,819 SOL used for PUMP purchases, equivalent to $61,455,352. This has resulted in a 4.567% offset of the total circulating supply. This program is funded by a portion of the platform's fees and is designed to reduce the supply of PUMP tokens, potentially creating upward price pressure.

How To Access The Opportunity

  1. Set up a Solana wallet and secure your seed phrase.
  2. Fund the wallet with SOL for gas and fees.
  3. Use Pump.fun to create or trade tokens, or buy PUMP on markets that list it.
  4. Stake PUMP in the official flow to receive staking rewards.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. What Does “Graduation” Mean On Pump.fun?

A1. When a token hits a target market cap, it moves from a bonding curve to Raydium. Liquidity Pool (LP) tokens are burned on graduation, which removes creator control of that liquidity.

Q2. How Does LP Burn Help Users?

A2. Burning LP tokens locks liquidity in the pool forever. Creators cannot remove it, which reduces classic “rug pull” risk after graduation.

Q3. How Do Buybacks And Staking Work?

A3. A slice of platform fees buys PUMP on the market. A portion is burned, and a portion goes to stakers. Yield depends on revenue and program settings.

Q4. Who Should Use Pump.fun?

A4. Traders and creators who accept high risk and fast cycles. Newcomers should start small, learn flows, and use strict risk limits.

Nomura raised SK Hynix's price target from ₩840K to ₩4M in 6 months — 5x. Goldman lifted MU's 2026 EPS estimate 133%. Why MU and SNDK move from Hold to Buy.

Nomura Quintupled SK Hynix's Target in 6 Months — A Tailwind for MU and SNDK

On May 17, Nomura raised SK Hynix's price target to ₩4 million won — roughly five times the level it set just six months ago. The size of that revision matters less than what Nomura wrote underneath it: AI memory demand is entering a "new regime" that breaks the historical cycle model. We're updating our #66 AI hardware basket map on the back of it — MU and SNDK move from Hold to Buy. The trajectory is the story, not the endpoint. Four sequential raises. Each one looked aggressive when published. Each one was conservative within weeks. The current PT implies +119.9% upside from the May 15 close of ₩1.82M — Nomura's bull case explicitly recalibrating to a "new regime," not extrapolating from the prior cycle. I'd argue the May 17 raise matters more than the four that came before it. The earlier raises tracked rising EPS estimates inside the same cyclical model. This one reframes the model itself — what Nomura calls "memory stock re-rating driven by exponential demand growth from AI." Nom

NVDA isn't the whole AI hardware trade. SanDisk +3,362%, Micron +340% past year prove it. Which AI hardware sectors still have upside — and which don't?

NVDA Is One Basket of AI Hardware. Here Are the Other Four, Ranked.

SanDisk is up 3,362% over the past 12 months (Yahoo Finance). Micron is up around 340% in the same window (Yahoo Finance). Both are AI hardware. Neither is NVIDIA. If you call yourself "long AI" but own only NVDA, you're not long AI — you're long one basket, and the other four ran without you. SNDK and MU are the proof of how expensive that miss can be. Here's the map. Five baskets. Where I'd put new money today (Basket 4) and where I wouldn't (Basket 1). Bottom line first. If you can only add to one basket today, I'd add to Basket 4 — Optical Interconnect. Not NVDA. Not HBM. Not foundry. One sentence: AI's bottleneck is shifting from "memory can't feed the GPU fast enough" (the 2024 problem) to "the wires can't connect 100,000 GPUs at once" (the 2026-2028 problem). The market hasn't fully priced this yet. AI-themed funds barely own any of the optical names.

Why Earnings Beats Fail in 2026: Edgen's 3-Signal Framework

Something broke in Q1 2026 earnings that contradicts what most retail investors learned in 2023-2024. Affirm reported adjusted EPS of $0.37 against a $0.27 consensus — nearly 40% above the Street — and the stock fell 5%. Coinbase missed revenue by 31% — a catastrophic shortfall by any historical standard — and the stock declined only 2.5%. SoFi beat the quarter and raised full-year guidance, then dropped 15%. Palantir reported 85% year-over-year revenue growth — and went sideways. These are the four prints Edgen Research covered in real time during April and May 2026. Across them, the relationship between an earnings beat and stock direction has visibly decoupled. This is not a noisy small sample — it is a structural change in how the market processes quarterly information. Three signals appeared in every single beat-and-fade case we tracked, and they also predict — in reverse — the rare cases that beat and rally, such as NXP's +18% reaction to its Q1 print. Q1 revenue is going to fall 26%. But while everyone watched the print, Coinbase quietly got something no crypto firm has ever had.
